Skooter's
Family Restaurant
Columbus, IN
(Casual Dining)

In 1981 Larry
Grace acquired Skooter's #2, then operating as a 12-cent hamburger
chain. Later in 1981, while eating at a restaurant in
Portland, Indiana, Mr. Grace tried Broaster ChickenŽ for the first
time. Out of interest, he contacted Drew Patterson, owner of
the Hope Heritage House and a successful, well-known BroasterŽ
operator. Drew proudly explained the BroasterŽ Program to
him. Dan Patterson, Sr. from Stoker's, the authorized
Broaster distributor for the area, then drove his mobile
demo unit to Columbus to demonstrate the BroasterŽ Program.
As a result of the demonstration, Skooter's invested in their
first Broaster pressure fryer on October 1, 1981.
Promoting
Broaster ChickenŽ became natural for Skooter's #2. In
addition to ads in the local newspaper, they benefited a great
deal from word of mouth advertising of their Genuine Broaster
ChickenŽ product.
Skooter's
thrives on their Broaster ChickenŽ dinners served with BroasterŽ
Potatoes and cheese sauce. A unique item on the menu is the
Beef & Bird. This meal includes an eight ounce hamburger
steak, two pieces of Broaster ChickenŽ, two side orders, and a
roll. With this menu item and more, Skooter's is currently
selling approximately 2,800 pieces of chicken per week.
Larry Grace
has promoted the BroasterŽ Program outside of his own
establishment as well. He has encouraged at least three
other operators to join the BroasterŽ family. He commends
The Broaster Company for the help he receives when he has a
question or problem.
In the future,
Skooter's hopes to expand their restaurant to accommodate more
seating and a larger kitchen area.
With his staff
of 23 employees, Larry Grace deserves recognition for his
outstanding promotion of the Broaster ChickenŽ
Program.
