Chicken and Dumplings

Ingredients - Chicken

  • 1 gal. of water

  • 1 lb. of pulled chicken

  • 2-3 tablespoons of chicken base

Note: if you do not have any chicken base, bouillon cubes and a chicken broth can also be used.  Please be mindful that bouillon cubes and chicken broth contain a good amount of salt as does the pulled chicken meat.  Always taste before moving on to the dumpling process.

Ingredients - Dumplings

  • 2 cups of Broaster Fish & Chips Batter

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 2-3 tablespoons of shortening

Instructions - Chicken

  • In a large pot, stir in water and chicken base over high heat until chicken base dissolves.

  • Add chicken and bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.

Instructions - Dumplings

  • Mix together Broster Fish & Chips Batter and shortening with milk.  Use a fork to mix until chicken is moistened.  Do not over mix.

  • Use a tablespoon to make small balls of batter and carefully place them into the broth.

  • Cover pot with a tight lid and let simmer for about 15-20 minutes.  Dumplings should appear light and fluffy.
