French Bread Using Broaster All-Purpose Batter

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 lbs. of Broaster All-Purpose Batter

  • 1-3/4 cups of lukewarm water

  • 3 packages of active yeast

  • 1/2 cup of sugar

Instructions

  • Mix yeast and sugar into lukewarm water, stiring well until both yeast and sugar are dissolved.  Then let water solution stand for 5-10 minutes.

  • After standing period, pour water solution into a bowl and mix in Broaster All-Purpose Batter, completely blending the ingredients in either by hand or blender.

  • Knead or mix the dough until the dough becomes elastic and smooth, then shape into a dough ball.

  • Place the dough ball into an oiled bowl and cover with a damp towel.  Let the dough proof for about 90 minutes or until it doubles in size.

  • After proofing, push the air out of the dough and roll it back into a dough ball.

  • Cut the dough ball in half and roll the halves into two loafs.

  • Cover with a damp towel and proof for another 30 minutes.

  • Use a knife to make small diagonal cuts on the top of each loaf.

  • Brush the loaves with oil, butter, or egg whites and bake for 20 minutes at 360º F.

  • Makes approximately two 22 oz. loaves.
