Cinnamon Rolls Using Broaster All-Purpose Batter

Ingredients - Rolls

  • 20 oz. of Broaster All-Purpose Batter

  • 1/3 cup of lukewarm milk

  • 3 packages of active yeast

  • 2 oz. of sugar

  • 2 oz. of shortening

  • 2 large eggs

Ingredients - Cinnamon Sugar

  • 1/2 cup of sugar

  • 3 tablespoons of cinnamon

Instructions

  • Prepare cinnamon sugar by mixing cinnamon and sugar in a bowl and set aside for later use.  (Note: feel free to add more cinnamon or sugar to alter flavor to your personal liking.)

  • Prepare roll by first mixing lukewarm milk into yeast and sugar, stiring well until both yeast and sugar are dissolved.  Then let milk solution stand for 5-10 minutes

  • After standing period, pour milk solution into a bowl and mix in Broaster All-Purpose Batter, eggs, and shortening, completely blending the ingredients in either by hand or blender.

  • Knead or mix the dough until the dough becomes elastic and smooth, then shape into a dough ball.

  • Place the dough ball into an oiled bowl and cover with a damp towel.  Let the dough proof for about 90 minutes or until it doubles in size.

  • After proofing, push the air out of the dough and roll it back into a dough ball.

  • Cut the dough ball in half and roll the halves into two dough balls.

  • On a countertop sprinkled with flour, roll out each dough ball into a 1/8" thick 10" x 14" rectangle.

  • Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the dough rectangle.

  • Starting from the top, roll and tuck the dough until it looks like a log.

  • Cut the log every 1 to 1-1/4" and place the individual rolls flat side down about 1" apart on a greased pan.

  • Let rolls rise for 15 minutes and deep fry each roll for 20 seconds on each side at 360º F, or until golden brown.
