The Broaster Company, a leading manufacturer and supplier of foodservice equipment, fresh and frozen foods, and branded food programs, presented Short Stop West Restaurant with its Golden Chicken Award in a ceremony held at the restaurant.  The Golden Chicken award is presented by The Broaster Company to a select number of foodservice operators across the country that have shown exemplary merchandising skills in the promotion and sale of Genuine Broaster Chicken®, the company’s signature product.

Short Stop, located at 3701 North 3rd Street in St. Cloud, is owned by Byron Bjyorkland, a hard working entrepreneur who opened the successful operation 24 years ago.  Byron features the Genuine Broaster Chicken® concept in the restaurant’s homemade family style buffet known throughout the upper Minnesota metro area.

As word of Short Stop’s delicious Broaster Chicken® spread, it soon became a big hit for catering as well as dine-in and carryout.  In fact, Short Stop now does a $2 million dollar a year volume in catering alone, handling everything from business lunches to weddings to Christmas parties.

Short Stop began with a single Broaster pressure fryer purchased in the early 1980’s.  Later the operation further increased its capacity to provide Broaster Chicken® with the purchase of a second Broaster® pressure fryer from TSBL Distributing in Burnsville, Minnesota, the authorized Broaster distributor for the area.
