The Broaster Company, a leading manufacturer and supplier of foodservice equipment, fresh and frozen foods, and branded food programs, presented Sav-A-Step #41 in Palmyra, IN, with its Golden Chicken Award in a ceremony held at the convenience store.  The Golden Chicken award is presented by The Broaster Company to a select number of foodservice operators across the country that have shown exemplary merchandising skills in the promotion and sale of Genuine Broaster Chicken®, the company’s signature product.

Sav-A-Step #41, located at 14195 Greene Street in Palmyra, started serving Genuine Broaster Chicken® the first day the store opened, some 14 years ago.  Originally set up as a trial program through Stokers of Kentucky, the authorized Broaster distributor for the area out of nearby Louisville, the program quickly proved itself and has been a permanent fixture ever since with Sav-A-Step serving the product daily between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.  In addition, the store also serves Broaster® Recipe hot wings, popcorn chicken, potato wedges, and corn dogs.

Owner Warren Perkins attributes the location’s success with Genuine Broaster Chicken® to some advice he received very early on.  “Always keep it fresh!”  Warren stuck to that advice and the store now cooks up between 10 and 11 cases of chicken each week to satisfy the fresh chicken cravings of a loyal base of customers.  Recognizing the success of the program, Warren says he plans to expand his deli and Broaster business further in Spring.
