The Broaster Company, a leading manufacturer and supplier of foodservice equipment, fresh and frozen foods, and branded food programs, presented Klondike Market & Deli in Louisville, KY, with its Golden Chicken Award in a ceremony held at the convenient food mart.  The Golden Chicken award is presented annually by The Broaster Company to a select number of foodservice operators across the country that have shown exemplary merchandising skills in the promotion and sale of Genuine Broaster Chicken®, the company’s signature product.

Klondike, located at 3601 Klondike Lane in Louisville, was one of the first convenience stores in the Louisville area, opening its doors in 1960.  The Parrish family owned the store up until October, 2005, when Vimal and Mandy Sandhu purchased the business from Gary Parrish, who worked in the store since he was in high school.  The Parrish family added the Genuine Broaster Chicken® program in 1992 to both increase sales and add variety to their product line.  “It was a huge success,” says Gary Parrish.  “Not only did we realize added sales from Genuine Broaster Chicken®,” adds Gary, “we also saw our overall store sales increase by 9%.”

New owners Vimal and Sandy Sandhu, looking for a store to purchase, found this gem of an operation through Stokers of Kentucky, the authorized Broaster distributor for Kentucky and surrounding areas who supplies the market with sales and service of Broaster® equipment and food products.  “After meeting Gary Parrish and tasting their delicious chicken, it was an easy decision for us to buy,” states Mandy Sandhu.  “Without question, Genuine Broaster Chicken® was the best fried chicken that I ever tasted.  We are committed to carrying on the high quality product that the Parrish family started back in 1992,” adds Mandy.
