The Broaster Company, a leading manufacturer and supplier of foodservice equipment, fresh and frozen foods, and branded food programs, presented Handy Food Mart in Bardstown, KY, with its Golden Chicken Award in a ceremony held at the convenience store.  The Golden Chicken award is presentedy by The Broaster Company to a select number of foodservice operators across the country that have shown exemplary merchandising skills in the promotion and sale of Genuine Broaster Chicken®, the company’s signature product.

Handy Food Mart, located at 3945 New Shepardsville Road in Bardstown, has been serving Genuine Broaster Chicken® for more than 13 years.  Tim Hutchins, the current owner, began working at the store in 1977, just five years after it opened.

“I could not imagine this store without Genuine Broaster Chicken, it has been extremely successful for us over the years,” says Tim.  “The reputation of the product has allowed us to expand into catering at local schools, churches, ball games, union halls, and other banquet events,” add Tim.  That translates to cooking up some 12 to 15 cases of chicken per week.  In addition, the store offers Broaster® Recipe hot wings, popcorn chicken, potato wedges, and other foods to round out their fried food menu.
