The Broaster Company, a leading manufacturer and supplier of foodservice equipment, fresh and frozen foods, and branded food programs, presented Yorky’s in Elmhurst, Illinois with its Golden Chicken Award in a ceremony held at the restaurant.  The Golden Chicken award is presented by The Broaster Company to a select number of foodservice operators across the country that have shown exemplary merchandising skills in the promotion and sale of Genuine Broaster Chicken®, the company’s signature product.

Yorky’s, located at 836 N. York Road in Elmhurst, is owned by Sam Veneris and Tom Konstantopoulos, who started the business in 1995.  Five years later they began offering Genuine Broaster Chicken® after purchasing their first Broaster® pressure fryer to produce the popular product.  The partners further increased their capacity to provide Broaster Chicken® with the purchase of a second Broaster® pressure fryer in 2003 from Wood Food Systems in Libertyville, IL, the authorized Broaster distributor for the Chicagoland area.  Today the 50-seat restaurant cooks up about 800 lbs. of chicken every week for in-store sales, take-out, and catering needs, which sometimes result in orders as big as 500 pieces!

In addition to the restaurant’s extremely popular Genuine Broaster Chicken®, sold by the piece in a wide variety of chicken only and dinner combinations, Yorky’s offers a menu full of other delicious entrees including BBQ back ribs, gyros, submarine and steak sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, pastas, Greek souvlaki, pork chops, ka-bobs, soups, and salads.
