The Broaster Company, a leading manufacturer and supplier of foodservice equipment, fresh and frozen foods, and branded food programs, presented Sunset Foods in Highland Park, Illinois with its Golden Chicken Award in a ceremony held at the popular northside Chicago food store.  The Golden Chicken award is presented by The Broaster Company to a select number of foodservice operators across the country that have shown exemplary merchandising skills in the promotion and sale of Genuine Broaster Chicken®, the company’s signature product.

Family owned since 1937, Sunset Foods enjoys a proud reputation throughout the Chicagoland area as a place to find the very highest quality foods and friendliest staff.   The Sunset facility honored with the award is located at 1812 Green Bay Road in Highland Park.  It is one of four Sunset Foods stores in the area which offer Genuine Broaster Chicken®.

The Highland Park Sunset Foods store has been offering Genuine Broaster Chicken® since 1988 when the store purchased its first Broaster® pressure fryer.  The store increased its capacity to provide the popular product with the purchase of a second Broaster® pressure fryer in 1991 from Wood Food Systems in Libertyville, IL, the current authorized Broaster distributor for the Chicagoland area.

The Highland Park store, which has 200 employees, 45 of which work in the deli area under deli manager Chuck Gallo, offers a full catering menu.  In addition to the store’s popular Genuine Broaster Chicken®, available catering selections include hot and cold appetizers; seafood platters; fruit/veggie, meat/cheese, and specialty food trays; sandwiches; box lunches; salads; and a wide variety of dessert items such as pies, tarts, pastries, and standard and custom decorated cakes.
