The Broaster Company, a leading manufacturer and supplier of foodservice equipment, fresh and frozen foods, and branded food programs, presented Marco’s Beef & Pizza in Chicago with its Golden Chicken Award in a ceremony held at the restaurant.  The Golden Chicken award is presented by The Broaster Company to a select number of foodservice operators across the country that have shown exemplary merchandising skills in the promotion and sale of Genuine Broaster Chicken®, the company’s signature product.

Marco’s, located at 6008 W. Fullerton in Chicago, is owned by Peter Stamatelopoulos, who purchased the business in 1994.  Stamatelopoulos, who has a lengthy history of restaurant ownership, began offering Genuine Broaster Chicken® at Marco’s in 1998 after purchasing his first Broaster® pressure fryer to produce the popular product.  “I wanted to get into offering Genuine Broaster Chicken® because the taste is phenomenal,” states Stamatelopoulos.  Two years later he further increased his capacity to provide Broaster Chicken® with the purchase of a second Broaster® pressure fryer from Wood Food Systems in Libertyville, IL, the authorized Broaster distributor for the Chicagoland area.  Marco’s has since grown to the point that Stamatelopoulos is now in the process of purchasing an adjacent property on which he plans to build a new, expanded facility to replace the current building, which he will eventually demolish to provide additional parking and drive-through service.

While the operation has seating for 40, it also provides take-out, delivery to homes, offices and factories, and catering service.  In an average week, the restaurant cooks up nearly 400 lbs. of chicken for orders ranging up to as many as 850 pieces! Currently assisting Stamatelopoulos in the operation are 20-some employees plus his son, John Stamos, who serves as manager.  Stamatelopoulos says the restaurant promotes it offerings to the local area through door-to-door delivery of some 300,000 printed menu flyers each year!

In addition to the restaurant’s extremely popular Genuine Broaster Chicken®, sold both in dinner combinations and by the piece and box, Marco’s also offers a wide range of other delicious entrees including their famous beef, billed as Chicagoland’s best, thin crust pizza – whole and by the slice, gyro’s, ka-bob’s, steak sandwiches, burgers, taco’s, hot dogs, salads, ice cream, and desserts.
