The Broaster Company, a leading manufacturer and supplier of foodservice equipment, fresh and frozen foods, and branded food programs, presented Goode & Fresh Pizza Bakery in Glenview with its Golden Chicken Award in a ceremony held at the restaurant.  The Golden Chicken award is presented annually by The Broaster Company to a select number of foodservice operators across the country that have shown exemplary merchandising skills in the promotion and sale of Genuine Broaster Chicken®, the company’s signature product.

Goode & Fresh, located at 1336 Waukegan Road in Glenview, is owned by Jay Phillips, who started the business in 1983.  Phillips began offering Genuine Broaster Chicken® in 1995 after purchasing a Broaster® pressure fryer to produce the popular product.  In the next three years he further increased his capacity to provide Broaster Chicken® with the purchase of an additional Broaster® pressure fryer in each year from Wood Food Systems in Libertyville, IL, the authorized Broaster distributor for the Chicagoland area.  Goode & Fresh also relies on Broaster for their delectable chicken tenders, another popular product from the Broaster family of top quality foods. 

Goode & Fresh, now with 28 employees, has grown to the point that Phillips recently purchased an adjacent building which he plans to remodel and add to his existing store by the spring of 2006, more than doubling their current size.  The new store will have seating for 33, a 55’ grill, a dedicated chicken area in one kitchen, and another separate kitchen for dining and catering needs.  In addition to its current take-out business, Goode & Fresh has a strong catering business, fueled by orders for Genuine Broaster Chicken®, such as a 500-piece order Phillips said he was delivering over the weekend.

In addition to pizza – the restaurant’s signature product offered in thin crust, stuffed, take-and-bake, and Chicago-Style – and the restaurant’s popular Genuine Broaster Chicken®, sold both by the bucket in chicken only and “family packs” including corn breads and side dishes, Goode & Fresh also offers a wide range of other delicious entrees including ribs, ka-bob’s, pasta, Italian half-pan meals, soups, desserts, numerous types of salads, and 25 varieties of sandwiches.
