12/07/2001: The Broaster Company to Donate a Portion of October Sales

Beloit, WI – The Broaster Company of Beloit, Wisconsin, announced today its plan to donate a portion of October sales, a sum of over $50,000, to several September 11 disaster relief funds.  The primary goal of the company in presenting this donation is to contribute to the immediate financial needs of families of the victims in the attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C. and rural Pennsylvania.  Secondarily, The Broaster Company wishes to assist with providing educational opportunities for victims’ dependent children.

A Task Force of Broaster employees researched various organizations to determine who the recipients of the donations should be.  A major portion of this donation will go to the Salvation Army in order to help with the ongoing support of families, individuals and emergency personnel involved in the attacks.  This organization has provided up to 100,000 meals each day for those involved in the rescue and recovery effort, and is maintaining counseling centers for family members and relief workers.

The balance of the donation will be split equally among three other groups: The Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund, Windows of Hope Family Relief Fund and the Pentagon/Army Emergency Relief Fund.  The Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund was set up to help the families of all victims of the disaster.  The company lost nearly two thirds of its work force to the World Trade Center attack.  Windows of Hope Family Relief Fund will help support families of the foodservice workers who lost their lives and set up a scholarship fund for their children.  The Pentagon/Army Emergency Relief Fund will put emphasis on immediate financial needs of the families, as well as allowing all dependent children of victims the opportunity to complete a college education.

“The Broaster Company is proud to contribute to the immediate and long-term financial welfare of the people so deeply affected by this tragedy, and extends its deepest condolences,” said company President Jerry Mohr.

Headquartered in Beloit, Wis., The Broaster Company markets and licenses the Genuine Broaster Chicken®, Broaster® Recipe Express, and Bro-Tisserie® programs worldwide through a network of authorized distributors.  The company also manufactures a full line of specialty foodservice equipment, blends a complete line of marinades and breadings, and markets an expanding line of ready-to-cook, frozen foods for foodservice operations under the Broaster® Recipe Foods brand name.
